St Mungo's is the most northerly parish in the Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway, one of the seven dioceses of the Scottish Episcopal Church, a member of the 75-million strong Anglican Communion. It is part of Glasgow North West Region and serves the cross-border area of Dunbartonshire and Stirlingshire. This includes, in Dunbartonshire, the village of Renton, the Vale of Leven, Balloch, the village of Gartocharn and, in Stirlingshire, the villages of Drymen, Milton of Buchanan and Balmaha. All of Loch Lomond, with its many islands, is in the parish.
Like many Scottish Episcopal churches, St Mungo's is moderate catholic in its style of worship and ethos.
The parish involves as wide a cross-section of Scottish society as could ever be found. Everyone is welcome; many of the congregation are not "cradle" Episcopalians. Some are former Presbyterians or Baptists, others former Roman Catholics. It is a very down-to-earth parish, but has not in its 111 years produced many famous names. In fact the only one it has produced is the former Bishop of Edinburgh and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Rt Rev'd Richard Holloway, and who currently chairs the Scottish Arts Council.
St Mungo's is twinned with All Saint's-Sharon Chapel, Alexandria in the Diocese of Virginia, USA.

The Rite used at St Mungo's is usually the 1982 "Blue Book" with readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. At the 9am Sunday Eucharist, however, the 1970 "Grey Book" rite is used, with collects and readings from the Prayer Book.
